Karla Dean received the Bill O`Neill Award which is presented annually to persons who best exemplify the best attributes of catholic teaching to the youth of his/her parish or region. This award is in honor of Mr. Bill O`Neill. Bill`s dedication to the involvement of young people in the parish community through athletics is a cornerstone for the wonderful program that we enjoy today. The award was presented at a Special Mass on May 13, 2008 at the Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul. Karla has enthusiastically served the CYO Program at Our Mother of Consolation for over nine years as Social Director. Karla has spent countless hours in organizing and chaperoning social events for our youth. From dances, to hayrides, to haunted houses and most recently introduced the first night under the skies movie night at OMC. Karla and her husband, Bill, are the parents of OMC Parish School Graduates, Leah (`04), Jordan, (`05) and Olivia (`08).

OMC Eighth Grader, Jane Idler, receives Women's Sports Foundation Award The 15th Annual Women’s Sports Foundation Philadelphia Awards Program took place on Thursday, February 7th, 2008 at St. Joseph’s University. In coordination with the National Girls and Women in Sports Celebration, this organization honors local girls and women for their athletic achievements and life contributions. The Women’s Sports Foundation (WSF) was founded over 30 years ago by Billie Jean King to promote sports for girls and women. Through educational grants, WSF has been fundamental in discovering research evidence that establishes the importance of exercise and sport for girls. Five 8th grade girls from Our Mother of Consolation Parish were nominated for the Sport Girl of the year award and each was asked to write a 500 word essay on what the words “All In” mean to them. Our own Jane Idler was selected as one of the 2008 recipients.
